Project professionals have the opportunity to raise their competence to a new level, by means of our exceptionally comprehensive coaching programme, which has been approved by the international IPMA project organisation.

Verona Consulting was the first company in Finland to launch a project management coaching programme in compliance with the globally renowned IPMA ICB 4.0 standard. The Project Excellence programme is exceptionally versatile because it covers all the competence areas included in the ICB 4.0 standard.

Comprehensive coaching and training are the answer to increasing project challenges. Project complexity is increasing, for example due to digitalisation, new work requirements and working roles, multiform work, networks and the stakeholder groups’ mounting expectations on the projects in progress. Project managers are required to build a concrete and inspiring vision for their projects, define the project objectives and content, manage the risks, lead diverse teams, over exceeding stakeholder expectations, and have the capability for multi-channel communication.

Management of complex projects imposes incredible requirements on project managers.

This challenge will be alleviated through a modular coaching and training programme that is currently being initiated, providing participants with tools for a total of 29 competence areas.

Firmly based on global research results

The competence areas selected for the coaching programme are based on the IPMA standard. This means that the background is formed by scientific research and long-term global experience from those competence areas that are critical to project’s success. The coaching programme now offers unmatched versatility in the various competence areas in Finland.

The holistic processing of project management issues raises the project manager’s competence to an unforeseen level. Among other things, this is supported by a research project run by Verona Consulting, which indicated that the project success of certified managers is well above average.

On the other hand, a project manager’s success is a factor of critical importance in a world where roughly 50 percent of the projects somehow fail to achieve their goals. The most significant reasons for failure are found in wrongly defined objectives, ineffective communication and inadequate project management. These are among the project managerial competencies that will be developed by the Project Excellence coaching programme, thus offering significantly better preconditions for successful project work.

The comprehensive programme especially focuses on providing participants with the capacity and readiness for demanding project work.

Apply theory into practice

This is a modular coaching and training programme with a duration of seven days. In addition to action learning training it contains advance assignments, assessments, participative coaching and practical training in daily work.

Coaching is based on the 70-20-10 principle, where 70 percent of the learning takes place through the trainee’s own work. At the end of each coaching day, the participants transfer concrete development steps to their own work.

The best results are to be expected when the participant’s own organisation provides the type of peer support that enables continual development. This also helps in implementing the benefits of coaching throughout the organisation.

The seven day modular coaching and training programme contains action learning training as well as advance assignments, assessments, participative coaching and practical training in daily work.
