Our partner company LJ Sports Group client Matteo Berrettini reached his first Masters 1000 final this past weekend in Madrid. The Italian number one beat a string of high-class opposition to take his place in the showpiece final against the world number six, Alexander Zverev of Germany. The match was a closely contested affair with Berrettini taking the first set on a tiebreak, but Zverev would come back to take this high-level encounter 6/7 6/4 6/3. Berrettini will move up to number nine in the world and put himself amongst the favorites ahead of the upcoming second major of 2021 at the French Open.

The Italian was very pleased with his weeks work but is looking ahead to more success in the near future: “Of course I am pleased to be in the final in such a big event but it hurts to lose, I never want to lose at any stage. I will work hard to make the small improvements needed and I will make sure I experience the winning feeling next time. This is a great motivation for me and I’m looking forward to competing in Roma next week and also in the French Open, I am confident I can do well.”
